A LIFE DRAWN UP (52′ USA)

Kinoss Dossou’s 52-minute documentary « A Life Draw » is awarded a scholarship from the AJP’s Journalism Fund, the Belgian Association of Professional Journalists. Five American states have been traveled by Kinoss and his team, Illinois, Washington, Kentucky, New York and New Jersey. Several additional supports were needed such as Wallonie Image Production, NordSud Productions and Antenne Center Télévision. This film traces the story of a strange lottery. The jackpot is neither money nor a gift, but a visa. Yes, a visa to legally enter the United States. On the instructions of the Congress, the US authorities have set up a « Lottery visa for diversity », in fact a program offering immigrant visas. It allows to deliver annually 55,000 sesames allowing the stay on the US territory. Some basic conditions are required (diploma, professional experience) and for the rest, it works like a real lottery.
